Interviewer: Tell us about your journey with Liberty Sarl and how you transitioned into the nautical industry.
Jan Lambrecht: Liberty Sarl's boat importing journey began in 2009, deeply rooted in family values. My professional life has revolved around the import and distribution of goods for several years. After completing my studies in Ghent, I was initially into distributing snowboards, boots, and clothing. I then switched to the sewerage market in Belgium. After about a decade in that domain, I became a significant player.
In 2008, after selling that business to an investor, I dove into the nautical industry. My childhood memories are filled with sailing, so the passion and knowledge were already in place.
Interviewer: You've had a longstanding association with Scandinavian boats. What prompted the shift to Focus Motor Yachts?
Jan Lambrecht: For around 14 years, we imported and sold Scandinavian boats. However, we felt a need to align with a brand like Focus Motor Yachts that holds high quality and is apt for the southern French market. One of our priorities was collaborating with a smaller, family-structured manufacturer. It's the ideal formula to assure quality for our customers who trust us with their precious leisure and holiday time aboard our boats.
Interviewer: Could you speak about Liberty Sarl's presence and offerings in Port Camargue and Agde?
Jan Lambrecht: We had our base in Port Camargue since 2008, where we offered mooring along with housing for potential clients. Now, having shifted to Agde's accessible port, we're perfectly situated for those desiring to sail to places like Italy, Corsica, Sardinia or the Balearic Islands. The demand for mooring is ever-growing, especially with real estate booming and our clientele becoming increasingly international, so acquiring it is challenging in France today, but we've got it covered. Additionally, we maintain an office in Ghent's old harbor for added reach.
Interviewer: How does Focus Yacht France cater to boat enthusiasts across France and the Mediterranean?
Jan Lambrecht: Our extensive contacts in France enable us to assist boating enthusiasts seamlessly. We're active from Le Cap D'Agde, and with the aid of our agent Mathieu Lafitte in Le Lavandou, we can meet immediate needs. Our collaborations extend to Corsica, Sardinia, and the Balearic Islands. The cooperation with Focus Motor Yachts yacht monitoring systems, allows us to remotely monitor boats, seeing any maintenance needs. We also offer winter mooring in Agde and services like skippering for those who can't return their boats post-holidays. And if someone wishes to kick off their vacation, say in Sardinia, we ensure their boat reaches there ahead of time. We pride ourselves in being accessible seven days a week over the phone.
Interviewer: Where can boat enthusiasts engage with your dealership?
Jan Lambrecht: We mark our presence at prominent boat shows such as Cannes, Monaco, and Palma. Additionally, we're also visible at local, smaller events. It's essential for us to be accessible and engage actively with the maritime community.
